The hunt for All-Ireland Final tickets has begun in earnest in Mayo but with three weeks left until the decider, some fans are already getting desperate. Very desperate.

Mayo have an advantage in the ticket stakes this year because they have a week longer than their eventual opponents in the final to look for them and the fact that their minors are also in the final means that their allocation will be increased.

That hasn’t stopped some fans from starting the search good and early, however, and while some are content to use whatever contacts they might have in other counties or through their work, one particular fan is attempting to use the lonely hearts column to secure a ticket more coveted than the one granting entry to Willie Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.

We’re not sure where exactly this column is published, but it was spotted by Irish Examiner journalist and proud Mayo man Terry Reilly on Twitter last night and his own reaction is probably reflective of the majority of people who will set eyes on it.

That said, the fan in question isn’t afraid to cast the net far and wide (ages 20-75), the number of the PO Box (1951) is a nice touch and who knows, he might meet the love of his life through this little stunt and wouldn’t that be a helluva story to tell the grandkids?
