Credit Suisse to create 100 new jobs, with a host of new positions going in Dublin

Colm Boohig

More good news on the employment front for the capital.

The investment banking giant Credit Suisse are opening a new trading floor in Dublin and are looking to recruit a host of young professionals.

RTÉ have reported the announcement, with 60 of the 100 new jobs involving support roles, while the other 40 are in the areas of risk, trading and capital professionals.

Credit Suisse have already been granted permission by the Central Bank to set up shop in Dublin, with the risk, trading and capital management positions due to be located in Spencer Dock in the IFSC.

The sales side of the bank’s Prime Services business is scheduled to remain in London.

Tim O’Hara, chief executive of global markets for Credit Suisse, has said:

“We have long admired Ireland’s commitment to and vision for the country’s future as a European financial services centre and we are excited to establish our Prime Services business here.”

Meanwhile, the CEO of IDA Ireland, Martin Shanahan, has welcomed the news with open arms.

“Trading activities have traditionally been exclusively associated with the larger global financial centres and the fact that one of the leading global prime brokers has now selected Dublin as a key hub for this business going forward is highly significant in our view.”

Get those CVs in, folks.
