We're kicking off a new Weekend Weather Watch feature here on JOE with thanks to the guys over at La Roche-Posay, so at least you'll know when you’re going to need a brolly this weekend (you will).
We’re kicking off this new feature on a fairly miserable weekend, as most of the country will be gripped by some heavy showers up until Monday (at least). Have a gander below for a more accurate look at how the weather will look over the weekend.
Friday June 22
It’s going to be wet and windy today, so make sure to hold onto those hats! Leinster and Ulster will be hit with some heavy showers throughout the day, but it should gradually ease off. Some of Kerry and Cork will also get a right dousing so if you happen to be in that part of the world make sure to wear a jacket.
The rest of the country will enjoy drier weather and even some sunny spells. We repeat: Some sunny spells. What more can we hope for at the end of June? Winds will be coming in from the northwest and temperatures will stay between 13 to 17 degrees.
Saturday June 23
Saturday morning is going to start off fairly clear - yippee! However, come midday the south of the country will be gripped by - yes, you guessed it - some heavy rain which will slowly, but you can bet surely, make it’s way around to Leinster.
Ulster and Connacht won’t get it as bad as the rest of the country, but you can still expect rain for most of the day.
If you’re planning on heading out Saturday night then make sure to bring a brolly with you as heavy rain is expected throughout the night and into Sunday morning. The wind will be blowing in from a south westerly direction and temperatures will range between 9 and 15 degrees. Cosy.
Sunday June 24
The majority of the country will experience cloudy dull weather on Sunday with the odd outbreak of rain. However there is a silver lining on this manky aul' rain cloud. Sunday night should be nice and clear and no sooner than you're back at work but the soon will burst out. Typical. So Monday should a heck of a day with Met Éireann forecasting temperatures of 21 degrees for Monday, so make sure you have the sun cream handy. From La Roche-Posay of course.
Sadly Sunday will see temperatures of just 9 to 17 degrees with winds mainly blowing in from the west and northwest.
So that's your Weekend Weather Watch this week. Check back in seven days' time when we'll hopefully have much better news in store, and don’t forget to check out www.SOSsaveourskin.ie for smart tips on how to stay sun safe this summer. Presuming we'll get to see some sun anytime soon...
