The Dáil has been adjourned.

Dáil Eireann has been adjourned for a week and the entire cabinet is now self-isolating, Ceann Comhairle Seán Ó Fearghaíl confirmed on Tuesday.

Speaking on Tuesday evening, the Ceann Comhairle told the Dáil that the entire Government is now “unavailable” and that, unless the Taoiseach tells him otherwise, the Dáil will not resume for the rest of the week.

This news comes after Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly began to feel unwell on Tuesday. It has emerged that he has since contacted his GP to arrange a Covid-19 test.

In an appearance on Drivetime on RTE Radio One shortly after the Ceann Comhairle’s announcement, Minister for Justice Helen McEntee said that the information is “news to her”.

Earlier in the day, Donnelly was present as the government unveiled its new five-level response plan, as part of the new Living with Covid roadmap.
