Tory MP called out on blatant lie on radio, gets stroppy like a grumpy child and hangs up

Another day, another British MP talking through his arse.

After being invited onto talkRADIO to clarify his grossly inaccurate statement about the Marshall Plan, MP Daniel Kawczynski decided to hang up the phone on live radio rather than clarify a blatant lie about the economic relief plan used in Europe in the aftermath of the Second World War. In case you missed Kawczynski's remark, he said: "Britain helped to liberate half of Europe. She mortgaged herself up to the eyeballs in process. No Marshall Plan for us only for Germany. We gave up war reparations in 1990. We put £370 billion into EU since we joined. Watch the way ungrateful EU treats us now. We will remember". As you can see on the official page of the UK's government, this is a bare-faced lie. "As a result, between 1948 and 1950, the US channelled $12 billion into the European Recovery Programme. Britain received the lion’s share of $2.7 billion. The US offer and Soviet response set the emerging Cold War division of Europe," is the official line from the UK government. The Marshall Plan was an American initiative passed in 1948 to aid Western Europe, in which the United States gave over $12 billion (nearly $100 billion in 2016 US dollars) in economic assistance to help rebuild Western European economies after the end of World War II. During a recent interview on talkRADIO, Alexis Conran asked Kawczynski to clarify his remarks. When asked if he stands by his message, Kawczynski said: "Of course I do. I'm the first Polish-born British MP, we came to this country in 1978 and I'm very conscious of the extraordinary role that this country has played in the history of Europe." He's then asked again if he stands by his belief that Britain received no money from the Marshall Plan. The MP tries to change the topic by saying: "I thought that I'd been invited to talk to you about Article 50."
