Train delays

A lot of people will be late for work today.

Iarnród Éireann has confirmed on its official Twitter page that commuters could be set back by as much as 45 minutes on Monday morning due to vandalism.

All trains to and from Heuston Station in Dublin are set to suffer delays throughout the busy morning period.

A tweet published on Monday, just before 7am, reads: “Delays of 30-45 mins continuing on services to/from Heuston due to signal cable vandalism between Sallins and Newbridge. Newbridge to Grand Canal Dock services operating from/to Hazelhatch as a result with knock-on delays.”

A second tweet confirmed that the signal cables were damaged overnight and are currently being repaired.

Iarnród Éireann haven’t given an indication as to when the delays will ease off, but they have confirmed that delays will continue throughout Monday morning’s peak times.
