1,000 hot meals in total will be donated.

Deliveroo has announced that it will donate meals to the Dublin Simon Community throughout the month of November.

1,000 hot meals will be delivered to 12 of Dublin Simon Community’s services located across the city during the month, from some of Dublin’s most popular restaurants.

The outlets taking part are Sano, Papa Johns, India Today, Kerala Kitchen, Boojum; Salsa, Xian Street food, Eatokyo, Musashi, and Bunsen.

The free meals will be delivered by Deliveroo for Business, the corporate arm of the food delivery service, which can deliver large numbers of meals at a time in vans, as opposed to individuals on bikes.

Speaking about the initiative, Jennifer Kitson, National Partnerships Development at Dublin Simon Community said: “People experiencing homelessness are one of the most vulnerable and isolated groups during the Covid crisis.

“A comforting meal can go a long way in lifting our service users’ spirits, so we’re extremely grateful to Deliveroo for this donation. It has also been heart-warming to see how generous local restaurants have been despite the challenges their sector is currently facing.”

Paddy Quinlan, Growth Manager and spokesperson for Deliveroo Ireland said: “At Deliveroo, we’ve been inspired by the great work Dublin Simon Community has been doing throughout the pandemic to ensure homeless individuals get the continued support they need.

“We’re proud that we can work alongside our amazingly generous restaurant partners to lend a helping hand. We are committed to using our delivery network to give back to those in need this Christmas.”
