Digger used to steal ATM from the wall of a bank in Monaghan

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning.

Gardaí in Castleblaney, Monaghan are investigating the theft of an ATM on Main Street.

The incident occurred at approximately 3am on 3 April.

A statement released from the Gardaí has said: “A digger removed the ATM from the wall of a bank before loading it onto a trainer being towed by a dark coloured jeep. The jeep left in the direction of the Oram Road”.

Main Street in Castleblaney is currently closed.

This type of theft has become increasingly common in recent months. In the past year there have been 11 such thefts – seven in Northern Ireland and four in the Republic of Ireland.
