“This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy.”

Current US president Donald Trump has made explosive claims against his predecessor Barack Obama, claiming that Obama wire tapped his phones in Trump Tower just before Trump’s victory in the US presidential election in November. In a series of tweets posted shortly after 5.30am eastern time on Saturday morning, Trump claimed that Obama tapped his phones during the election process, even going so far as to compare it to Watergate, the scandal that brought about the downfall of President Richard Nixon in the 1970s. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/837989835818287106 https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/837993273679560704 https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/837994257566863360 https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/837996746236182529 Where the allegations came from is unclear, but Trump did issue the tweets after defending Jeff Sessions, the US attorney who is under scrutiny for meeting with the Russian ambassador to Washington twice during the presidential election last year. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/837987684660412416 https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/837991759045079040 Sessions’ meetings with the Russian ambassador form the latest in a series of questions about the Trump regime’s connections with Russia, which have increased pressure on the president in recent weeks.
