Here’s why everyone has been talking about Donald Trump’s hair this week

As soon as he finds out who made this video, there’ll be hell toupée.

The colour and shape of Donald Trump’s hair has long been the source of fascination amongst the wider public, even more so after a video of it flailing in the wind did the rounds on the internet this week.

The video in question, showing Trump boarding Air Force One on a windy day, casts a light on his hair seemingly struggling to remain gripped to his head, with the back of his mane parting like the Red Sea following a particularly strong gust of wind.

Seeking to provide clarity on the matter, the Guardian asked Dr Alan Bauman, CEO and founder of Bauman Medical, a hair restoration clinic, for his thoughts on the matter and though he suggested the video may have been doctored, he also intimated that there was evidence of a hair transplant of some sort.

“In my professional opinion I do believe he has had some previous hair transplantation to the frontal part of his hairline,” Bauman said.

“He probably also has access to potent prescription topical medication like Formula 82M Minoxidil, which would be used twice daily, or a laser therapy cap, which could easily be hidden underneath a baseball hat.”

Not surprisingly, it was also a hot topic on US TV shows, with Jimmy Kimmel also seeking the views of professional hair stylists on the matter…

Having met Trump personally, however, Alan Bauman confirmed that whatever is on Trump’s head is real and not a hairpiece.

Clarifying that Trump’s hair “is firmly growing from his scalp and is not a hairpiece”, Bauman added that “he does, however, use quite a bit of hairspray to maintain his preferred style”.

Trump has previously reneged on a promise to change his hairstyle if elected to the White House; a few more incidents like this and he might have to adopt the Brian McFadden approach.
