Donald Trump has slammed Hillary Clinton over her links to Denis O’Brien

JOE

Donald Trump has released an attack on Hillary Clinton’s business ties, specifically mentioning Irish businessman Denis O’Brien.

As part of a new strategy, Trump has released a series of emails to his followers entitled ‘Follow The Money’ which provide details on those who have donated to Hillary Clinton’s campaign or the Clinton Foundation, which she runs with her husband Bill.

The email doesn’t quote Donald Trump directly and contains several long quotations from articles featured in Irish and international publications, and has links to those too.

Trump’s statement provides details of Mr. O’Brien’s previous dealings with the Clintons, including a claim that Mr. O’Brien hosted a dinner for Hillary Clinton on a past visit to Ireland.

Trump has claimed that Denis O’Brien, who owns Newstalk, Today FM and Independent News Media, has donated somewhere between €9 million and €22 million to the Clinton Foundation.

On its website, the Clinton Foundation lists its donors and includes Mr O’Brien and Digicel in the bracket of “cumulative lifetime donations” of between $10-25m as of June 2016.

Details were also provided on Denis O’Brien’s past legal issues with various Irish journalists and publications.

A spokesman for Mr. O’Brien told The Irish Times that he was aware of the statements made by Donald Trump, and would not be responding.

Forbes lists Denis O’Brien’s net worth as $5.6 billion, compared to Donald Trump’s $3.7 billion.
