US President Donald Trump has given the strongest hint yet on the country he wants to invade, after the military action in Iran.
Trump recently gave a speech in Phoenix, Arizona at a conference of Turning Point USA, the group formerly led by slain activist Charlie Kirk.
During the speech, the American president said that change to the country would come “very soon”.
The US leader hinted that he is planning to invade Cuba, after he's “finished” with Iran, where he started military action less than two months ago.
Previously, Trump made offhand comments about “stopping by” Cuba on his way home from Iran.
“Very soon, this great strength will also bring about a day 70 years in waiting. It's called A New Dawn for Cuba. We're going to help them out in Cuba”, Trump said.
“We have a lot of great Cuban Americans. Not too many people in this audience, I don't think. But you go to Miami, we have people, Cuban Americans, people that were brutally treated, whose families were killed, brutalised, and now watch”, he added.
Following a US energy blockade after its invasion of Venezuela, their main oil supplier, Cuba's economy and infrastructure have been in crisis.
The Cuban government was described by the Trump administration as ineffective and abusive.
The American demands have included an end to political repression, a release of political prisoners and a liberalisation of the island's ailing economy, in return for easing sanctions.
While American diplomats recently met with Cuban government officials in the island nation, marking a renewed push for talks, Cuba's leader, Miguel Díaz-Canel, said this week that his country is prepared to fight if that should happen.
