Taoiseach Micheál Martin met with the US President in Washington today.

Donald Trump has said that people in Ireland are 'very happy' about the war in Iran.

In his meeting with Taoiseach Micheál Martin in Washington today, the US President was questioned over the rising oil prices due to the war.

President Trump stated: "The people in Ireland are very happy that I'm getting rid of a nuclear power, a nuclear terrorist."

He continued to say that fuel prices in Ireland will 'drop like a rock' when the war ends, which he said would be 'soon'.

President Trump was asked during the meeting if he would visit Ireland later this year when the Irish Open takes place at Trump International in Doonbeg, Clare.

Mr Trump boasted of his his golf course being chosen for the event, adding that he was 'going to try' to attend.

"We're going to try, we are going to try," he said.
