Donald Trump will land in Ireland later today on his journey home from Davos, The Journal has reported.
It is understood the US President’s plane, Air Force One, will refuel at Shannon Airport, en route home from his visit to Switzerland.
In the last 48 hours a major security operation went into action at the airport in the last 48 hours.
His son Eric Trump was in Trump Doonbeg Golf Resort in County Clare this week, however the President is not believed to be getting off the plane during today's stopover.
Mr Trump's Davos trip got off to a difficult start as shortly after takeoff the presidential plane had to return to its air base 'out of an abundance of caution',
The White House described it as a 'minor electrical issue' and it was reported by journalists traveling with the US President that the cabin lights in the cabin went out just after taking off.
He is currently travelling on a replacement aircraft which requires more fuel stops.
President Trump met with world leaders in Davos yesterday, following which he backed down on his threats to seize Greenland.
Additionally, he announced a deal which would ensure security of the terroitory, however he did not give many details.
The president also let up on his 'promise' of sanctions on European nations that spoke out against him, adding that the deal gives Washington 'everything we wanted'.
Furthermore, Mr Trump met with Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy for around an hour this afternoon in, an interaction he described as 'good' adding that 'everybody wants to have the war ended'.
