A pet is not just for Christmas, folks.

The Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is looking for foster homes for many of their dogs and cats over the Christmas period.

The DSPCA announced it has over 95 dogs and 85 cats looking for temporary foster homes.

Any families who are interested in taking in the animals should be available over the Christmas period to bring them back for veterinary treatments.

If you are interested, please email Rachel at [email protected].

Dog’s Trust has also announced that it has suspended adoptions until the new year in order to prevent people running out to get a dog for Christmas.

The charity believe that Christmas is not a suitable time for puppies and dogs to be adopted into new families as the busy festive period means people cannot provide proper training and socialisation with the pet.

However, the Dog’s Trust rehoming team are still available to speak with anyone interested in a adopting in the new year.
