Dublin Bus launches full investigation as fire takes blaze Tuesday morning

The E1 service went up in flames shortly after 9am, with the driver ordering all passengers off before the blaze took hold.

Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished, with no injuries reported.

The incident closed Morehampton Road in Dublin 4 and forced diversions on the E1 and E2 routes.

Two Dublin Fire Brigade units, an ambulance and a senior officer from Donnybrook Fire Station responded.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used high-pressure hose reels to put out the fire, which concluded at 10.05am, according to RTÉ News.

It comes weeks after an Aer Lingus flight with 146 on board experienced a serious Dublin Airport approach incident.

In a statement to The Journal, Dublin Bus said the fire occurred on a vehicle on Route E1.

“All passengers were evacuated from the bus, emergency services were called, and the fire was extinguished,” a spokesperson said, confirming a full investigation had begun.

Dublin Fire Brigade said the cause of the fire will be determined by gardaí.

Diversions remain in place on the E1 and E2 in both directions until further notice, with several southside stops out of use.
