Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has opened up about a recent cancer scare after discovering a “really painful” lump.
While showering, the former WWE legend discovered a lump in one of his testicles, immediately fearing the worst.
Speaking to Esquire, the actor said the lump 'hurt when he touched it', just before he was to attend a promotional event for Jumanji: Open World alongside Kevin Hart and Jack Black.
The actor went on to admit that he didn't even tell his wife, Lauren Hashian, about the lump.
"I didn't want to worry her before I knew if it was anything to even worry about,” Johnson explained.
When the 54-year-old actor visited his doctor, he told him it was 'probably epididymitis', which is an inflammation of the tube at the back of the testicle, however, he also warned Johnson it 'could be cancer'.
To fully understand the severity of the lump, Johnson had to undergo an ultrasound on his testicle the following morning, a day after the Jumanji press event.
“So I had to live with that for those twenty-four hours, not knowing—and I had to be on all day, joking around, making speeches,” he told the publication.
Fortunately, the actor was given the all-clear after the ultrasound when the lump was determined to be epididymitis.
“By the way, I’m fine. But I didn’t know that then, and the thing was really painful,” he admitted.
Just last year, Dwayne Johnson shocked fans with his change in physique, slimming down to a trimmer physique rather than the big montain-esque physique we're used to.
Just last year, Dwayne Johnson surprised fans with a noticeable change in his physique, slimming down to a leaner build from the mountain-like frame he’s long been known for.
The actor lost a significant amount of weight to transform his physique for an acting role.
He shed the bulk he gained for The Smashing Machine, in which he played MMA fighter Mark Kerr, to achieve a leaner look, which he jokingly described as being like "Clint Eastwood at 75", per Variety.
Johnson is set to portray the 'Chicken Man', a whimsical, eccentric man in his 70s, in the upcoming film Lizard Music, directed by Benny Safdie.
