Reports had suggested that one of the four foreign passengers kept aboard this morning hijacked EgyptAir flight is Irish.
As we pointed out earlier, reports that there was an Irish hostage had not been confirmed by Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs.
EgyptAir have now made it clear that it will not be disclosing either the name of the attacker, or the names and nationalities of those currently held hostage.
This is not to say that any of the hostages are Irish, but it is a clear message from EgyptAir that they are the only source to be trusted on the matter.
#EgyptAir presser: Certain information cannot be disclosed. We're not serving anybody if we are keen [to serve] the news. Let us do our duty

The spokesperson went on to say that, as of yet, no specific demands had been made by the hijacker.
"I will not release name of hijacker, names of passengers or nationalities … for well-being of passengers released and those on board"

The hijacker had originally been identified as Ibrahim Samaha – a claim which turns out to be totally false, as the Egyptian man has since spoken to the BBC.
