Eight people arrested for the murder of Mark Loughlin and related offences in Kildare

Investigations into the murder are ongoing.

Eight people have been arrested by Gardaí on Wednesday in connection with the murder of Mark Loughlin and related offences.

Gardaí from Naas, who are investigating the murder which occurred at Allenwood South in Kildare, deployed an operation on Wednesday morning with the assistance of officers from across Kildare and Laois/Offaly Divisions.

A number of premises were searched and eight people were arrested.

The six men, one woman and one male juvenile are currently being detained at stations in Kildare and Laois under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 and Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939-98.

Mark Loughlin was discovered unconscious on a public road on the morning of 3 January 2021 by Gardaí responding to a call about a public order incident and assault at Allenwood South.

He was taken taken by ambulance to Naas General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
