The accident occurred early this morning.

Eight teenagers and one man have been hospitalised following a crash on the M50.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a vehicle travelling northbound on the southbound carriageway of the M50 at around 5.30am this morning, August 9.

The vehicle, carrying the eight male teenagers, was driving down the up ramp at Junction 12 when it collided head on with a car.

The were all transported to a number of different hospitals for treatment, with one of their conditions being described as critical.

The driver of the other car, a man in his 20s, was also taken the hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.

Gardaí are appealing for any persons who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

They are appealing to road users who were travelling on the M50 between Junction 14 and Junction 11 northbound or southbound between 5.00am and 5.30am this morning and may have dashcam footage of the incident or surrounding area to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
