The meeting will take place on Thursday morning.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has called a meeting of the Irish security agencies in the wake of Monday night’s terror attack in Manchester.

They will look at the security situation in Ireland in case of a similar attack to the one which occurred in Manchester.

The agencies, including defence, justice, transport, health will meet on Thursday morning Enda Kenny said in the Dáil on Wednesday when responding to a question to Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin.

“I have to say that I was very impressed with the immediate response of the first responders in Manchester to the tragedy,” Kenny said as reported by RTE.

“I would say that when the O’Toole Commission gets going, in terms of policing that it would look at security and policing.

“There is an issue here as to whether we should have a security and intelligence unit, separate from the way the structure currently operates and we will reflect on that.”

Kenny continued on to state that he’s eager for people to now that everything is being done to protect the people of Ireland from a possible attack.

“It’s important for the Government to be able to give assurance to people that everything humanly possibly is done to protect innocent people and the citizens of the our country,” Kenny said.

The reassurance from the Taoiseach comes after it was revealed that 400 Garda and an additional 1,200 private security personnel will be at Slane this weekend when Guns N’ Roses perform as part of their Not In The Lifetime Tour.

A statement issued by the An Garda Síochána  said:

“An Garda Síochána will have over 400 members on duty, including specialist units, who will be supported by an additional 1,200 Security/Stewards provided by licensed security companies together with a full complement of doctors and medical teams, including an on-site hospital along with five first aid posts.”

The statement continued to urge concert-goers to co-operate fully with Gardaí and stewards and follow any loudspeaker announcements at the gig.
