Enda Kenny promises a review of the Eighth Amendment if he is re-elected

Joe Harrington

Big news.

The Repeal The 8th movement has been building momentum in the search for abortion rights for women in Ireland and today sees it gather even more pace.

Many Irish politicians have said they support the decriminalisation of abortion in the country and the current Taoiseach has made a pledge on the issue today.

According to the Irish Times, Enda Kenny has promised to review abortion ban if he’s re-elected next year.

He says a constitutional review would begin within six months of a general election which would bring about Ireland’s fourth referendum on abortion in more than 30 years.

Liam Neeson added his voice to the ‘Repeal The 8th’ campaign in this ad.
