Trump Doonbeg

In case you haven’t heard, the Trump family were in Doonbeg on Wednesday.

Donald Trump is currently on his first official state visit to Ireland, and he has brought his family with him.

The US President’s sons Donald Jr and Eric paid a visit to four pubs in Clare during their stay on Wednesday night, and the latter of the two had some very kind words for the people of Doonbeg.

Eric Trump described the people of Doonbeg as the “best neighbours in the world” and thanked them for the support.

Speaking on RTE’s Morning Ireland, he said: “You see the support it is incredible. It is simply incredible. The whole town showed up and we’ve done a lot for Doonbeg. We love Doonbeg. We saved a great hotel. We love the people in this town and they love us.”

Eric’s comments follow on from those of his father, who has also described Doonbeg as a “great place“.

In a press conference on at Shannon Airport on Wednesday, Trump also told reporters that Brexit “will be very, very good for Ireland”.
