God loves Carlow.

Specifically, one filling station in Carlow.

O’Toole’s Service station on the Bunclody Road in Tullow is celebrating the sale of a €500,000 EuroMillions Plus ticket after one lucky Irish player snagged the half a million on Wednesday night.

There have been 27 Irish winners of the EuroMillions Plus top prize so far this year, so this wouldn’t be freak out-worthy news on its own. But… just days ago, the same filling station sold a winning National Lottery scratch card prize worth €200,000.

Guess we know where we’re buying our petrol next time we’re in Carlow.

Joe O’Toole, owner of the filling station, said: “Genuinely, we are just thrilled for the winner and we are desperately hoping that it is a deserving person from the area.

“We have a very loyal group of local customers who keep the business alive, so we’ll be throwing a huge party in the store today and I’m encouraging anybody in the area to come down to the shop to enjoy the celebrations and of course to check their tickets to see if they are €500,000 richer,” he added.

The winning EuroMillions Plus numbers for last night’s draw were: 05, 13, 22, 39 and 46. Alas, nobody took home the €104 million EuroMillions jackpot…
