And it doesn't look like it's gonna get much better...

A weather expert has explained reports of 'mini tornado' in Cork

Yup, you read that correctly.

Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather stunned his followers this morning when he reported a possible small tornado near Midleton in Cork overnight.

However, this has since been explained, with him confirming it was a 'remarkable gust of 156 knots'.

This follows very poor weather in the south east, which unfortunately doesn't look set to improve much.

Met Éireann has issued a yellow rain warning for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary, Waterford from 9pm tonight, Monday December 8, into tomorrow morning.

They have warned that heavy rain falling on already saturated ground may cause difficult travel conditions.
