Man dies following vehicle-pedestrian collision in Offaly

The incident took place on Friday morning.

A man in his 50s has died after he was hit by a car in County Offaly on Friday morning (14 June).

Gardaí are investigating following the fatal road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred at approximately 10.50am on Clonmeen Cross Road near Rhode Village.

A man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene while another man in his 60s was taken to hospital with injuries.

The road has been closed off with diversions put in place.

Forensic Crime Scene Investigators have attended the scene and the local coroner has been notified.

Gardaí in Tullamore are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the incident and can provide information to contact Tullamore Garda Station on 057 932 7600.
