No one was injured and the runway is set to reopen in time for flights due to arrive this evening.

An Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Kerry Airport was diverted and the runway closed after an incident involving a single engine plane on Saturday. According to RTÉ, the flight had been due to land in Kerry Airport at 1pm but had to return to Dublin Airport after a single engine plane went off the runway. The pilot and the passenger on board the plane were uninjured as a result. A flight from Kerry Airport to Dublin at 1.20pm had to be cancelled and it is believed that the passengers will travel to Dublin by bus instead. Flights due to arrive in Kerry Airport from London Luton at 5.45pm and from Dublin Airport at 7.55pm will not be affected, according to the Kerry Airport website.
