A scary statistic.

The Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, Denis Naughten has warned that four people die from air pollution every day in Ireland.

Naughten spoke about the fact that President Elect Donald Trump doesn’t believe in climate change. Trump stated that, “The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S manufacturing non-competitive.”

During the campaign for the presidency, Trump also pointed out that it was, ‘snowing in Texas and Louisiana, record-settling (sic) freezing temperatures throughout the country and beyond. Global warming is an expensive hoax!’

Despite this logic, Minister Naughten said that world leaders will push ahead with tackling climate change with or without the U.S. following Trump’s election.

Naughten added that tackling climate change isn’t optional, and that “Four people die, every single day, from air pollution in Ireland, many many more people are admitted to hospital so there is a huge additional burden being put on our health services.”
