Temperatures are set to drop again over the long weekend with rain, frost and even a chance of snow in some places expected over the long weekend.
This will be the third such spell of severe cold in recent weeks.
The British Met Office has forecast “unsettled weather” over Easter with widespread rain and temperatures dropping close to freezing and, at times, minus temperatures. The British forecaster is also expecting snow in parts of northern Britain, a weather system which could also see Ireland affected.
And looking at the week's weather predictions ahead, temperatures are slowly dropping every day, with high winds expected throughout. https://twitter.com/MetEireann/status/978168170820329472Met Éireann is currently predicting “cool weather” starting on Friday with dry, bright spells but also passing showers.
"A few bright spells, but generally cloudy and misty, with some rain at times - this most likely over the eastern half of the country, with western areas likely to have the best of the dry weather. Cold and frosty overnight." The forecaster expects temperatures to drop significantly on Saturday night, with frost expected in many places. "Present indications point to cool weather, with moderate northeast to northerly breezes. Some dry, bright spells each day, but cloudy periods too, with some passing showers. Cold at night, with frost in many places."Any snow that may fall across the weekend is set to do so in northern and in easterly parts of the country, and based on current predictions, will only accumulate on higher ground.
