21-year-old man killed in Galway car crash

The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A 21-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision in Galway.

The incident took place on the N59 in the townland of Corcullen, Moycullen, shortly after 2.30am on Sunday morning, 31 October.

The man, who was the sole occupant of the car involved in the collision, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to University Hospital Galway where a post-mortem examination is set to take place in due course.

At the time of writing on Sunday afternoon, Garda forensic collision investigators are at the scene in order to carry out an examination of the area.

The N59 at Corcullen is currently closed as a result and local diversions have been put in place.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses, in particular any road users who may have camera footage – including dash-cam – and were travelling in the vicinity between 2am and 2.30am.
