Woman in her 80s dies after falling from building in Galway

Very sad news.

A woman has died following a fall from a building in Galway city centre.

Shortly before 9am on Thursday (9 June), the woman, who was aged in her 80s, was discovered deceased at a premises on High Street in Galway city centre.

It is understood that the woman fell from the upper floor of a building.

Gardaí have said they are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the death. As of Thursday afternoon, the vicinity has been preserved and the body of the woman remains at the scene.

The coroner has been notified.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them. Any person who was in the High Street area on Thursday morning between 8.45am and 9.05am and who may have camera footage – including dash-cam – of the incident is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
