A witness appeal has been launched over the 'criminal damage by fire'.

Gardaí are investigating "criminal damage by fire" to a Garda Station in Wexford.

The incident occurred at Blackwater Garda Station at around 2.50am today (Tuesday, 26 May).

Gardaí are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information in relation to the fire to come forward.

"Road users who may have video footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in Blackwater, Co. Wexford between 2.30am and 3.00am on Tuesday, 26th May 2026 are asked to contact Enniscorthy Garda Station on (053) 923 3534, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station," a Garda spokesperson said.

In a statement to JOE, Wexford County Council's Fire Services said of the incident: "The Fire Service were alerted to a fire in the Garda Station in Blackwater at 02:59 on Tuesday, the 26/05/26.

"Two Fire Appliances from Wexford Town responded. When fire crews arrived at [the] scene, they promptly contained the fire and continued to extinguish it.

"The fire was fought offensively and was brought under control by 03:30, with dampening down continuing until 04:10.

"Then the scene was handed over to An Garda Siochána."
