Two people seen running from car that struck on-duty Garda in Dublin city centre

The incident happened shortly before 11am on Monday morning.

A male Garda member is currently being treated in hospital following a collision with a vehicle on Baggot Street shortly before 11am on Monday morning.

The Garda, who was on checkpoint duty in the city centre at the time, was struck by a car and injured in the process.

The Jeep/SUV fail to stop and crashed on Waterloo Road.

It is understood that the Garda has been taken to hospital with knee and elbow injuries. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

Both occupants of the vehicle, a man and a woman, were seen running from the scene following the incident. A manhunt followed with officials travelling via helicopter.

A man and woman have since been arrested.
