Gardaí in Tipperary have appealed for owners of suspected stolen dogs to get in contact with them.

Gardaí are trying to trace the owners of three non-microchipped dogs after detectives from Carrick-On-Suir seized them on Saturday morning.

The owners are being asked to contact Clonmel Garda Station on 052-6177640.

Gardaí have also urged dog owners to ensure that their pets are microchipped, saying: “It’s the law, and makes them easy to identify.”

They also urged people to keep their dogs in sight, and specifically not to leave your dogs tied outside a shop as it “creates an ideal opportunity for thieves”.

Finally, they said that you should always buy dogs from a trusted source, and to think about CCTV to help keep your dog safe at home.
