A man in his 20s has been killed following a three-car crash in Galway last night, as Gardaí have closed the road.
The crash took place on the R336 in Barna at around 11.25pm on Sunday night.
One of the drivers, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was brought to University Hospital Galway, where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.
No other injuries have been reported at the moment.
Gardaí have confirmed that the road between Bearna (Barna) and Na Forbacha (Furbo) remains closed this morning, as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators will carry out an examination of the scene.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and take the N95 route instead, as local diversions have been put in place.
Gardaí have appealed for any witnessess of the crash to come forward.
A statement from An Garda Síochána said: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Bóthar na Trá (Salthill) Garda Station on 091 514 720, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
