Gardaí fear man struck by suspected hit-and-run in Cork lay at scene for hours before discovery

A man who was found dead on a roadside in Cork over the weekend is suspected to have been a victim of a hit-and-run, according to Gardaí.

It’s understand that the 67-year-old man’s body lay at the roadside scene for hours before he was discovered on Sunday morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body was discovered on Sunday morning at approximately 9.30am on the road from Castlecor to Johns Bridge at Ballybane, Liscarroll.

The scene has since been preserved for a technical examination and the Office of The State Pathologist has been contacted. The body remains at the scene.

Gardai in Mallow are appealing for witnesses who may have travelled this road between 10pm on Saturday night and 10am on Sunday morning or to anyone who can assist with this investigation to contact Mallow Garda Station on 022 31450, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
