Gardaí find €333,000 worth of drugs across eight properties in Mayo

A major operation was undertaken in Mayo today.

Earlier today, members of the Mayo Divisional Drugs Taskforce, the Armed Support Unit, the Garda Dog Unit, and Gardaí attached to Ballina Garda Station searched a total of eight properties in the Ballina area, finding €333,000 worth of drugs.

Gardaí searched eight properties between 9am and 4pm this afternoon (28 May), finding one cannabis growhouse containing suspected cannabis plants valued at approximately €265,000 was discovered at a house in Attymass, Ballina.

One man was arrested in connection with this growhouse, and is currently detained at Ballina Garda Station.

In Ballina Town, Gardaí found €30,000 worth of cannabis herb in a garden shed, while another Ballina search turned up €20,000 worth of suspected cannabis herb, €7,000 worth of suspected cocaine, a quantity of suspected steroid, and a small quantity of ammunition.

Arising from a separate search at a house in Ballina town €11,000 worth of cocaine has been seized. One woman was arrested in connection with this seizure, though she has been released without charge.

A statement from Gardaí has noted that “all drugs are subject to analysis, and investigations are ongoing.”
