Gardaí found 16 potential breaches of health rules by pubs last week. A number of figures were released by Gardaí on Wednesday evening, which showed that 16 Covid-related breaches were found in pubs from 7 September until 13 September. In total, there has been 216 Covid-19 breaches by pubs since regulations were introduced on 3 July. An Garda Síochána said that they will not be providing a breakdown of these figures by area. A large number of these cases continue to refer to no evidence of food being served or consumed. However, Gardaí said that the "vast majority" of licensed premises are continuing to comply with the safety regulations. Deputy Commissioner, Policing and Security, John Twomey said: "There continues to be a very high level of compliance among licensed premises. This is welcome. "However, some licensed premises are risking the health of their employees, customers and local communities. "Customers of such premises should also consider the risks to themselves, and their family and friends from ignoring public health advice and regulations." It was recently confirmed that pubs and bars not serving food in Dublin should remain closed beyond 21 September, the date from which ‘wet pubs’ will be allowed reopen in all 25 other counties across the country.
