Bizarre.

Gardaí in Cork are investigating after a series of road signs were cut cut down using an angle grinder.

The incidents were reported in the Macroom and Crookstown areas in Cork and Gardaí from Skibbereen are investigating the incident.

Sergeant Triona O’Mahony of Skibbereen Garda Station described it as a “completely needless act of vandalism” and said Gardaí are seeking information from the public on the incidents.

“They were just thrown at the roadside in a completely needless act of vandalism,” O’Mahoney told Patricia Messinger on C103’s Cork Today Show.

“There would have been large metal road signs of good significant value and in a number of separate locations but in a relatively close proximity to one another.”

A total of six road signs were cut down with at least three of them occurring between Saturday night, 6 March, and Sunday morning, 7 March.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact Skibbereen Garda Station.
