Gardaí issue major update on missing person Jon Jonsson after extensive search in Dublin park

An extensive search was carried out in a Dublin park.

Gardaí have issued a major update regarding the search for missing man, Jon Jonsson, who hasn’t been seen in over five years.

Mr Jonsson was 41 when he went missing, last being seen in Whitehall at around 11am on February 9, 2019.

Following a three-day search in Santry Demesne earlier this week, Gardai have now issued a lengthy update.

The statement from Gardaí read: “Gardaí in Ballymun are continuing in their appeal to the public for assistance in tracing the whereabouts of Jon Jonsson.

“The Garda investigation into the disappearance of Jon has also continued over the last 5 years. The investigation to date has created over 270 jobs/ lines of enquires and numerous statements have been taken and hours of CCTV were reviewed. Despite ongoing investigations and enquiries, Jon has yet to be located.”

“As stated last week, the investigation team received two items of anonymous correspondence, the contents of which have been assessed.”

“Operational searches which took place in North Dublin this week have yielded no further information on the whereabouts of Jon Jonsson.

“The Garda investigation team are continuing to appeal to the author(s) of those correspondences to make direct contact with them. Any contact will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.”

The update concluded to say that the investigation into the whereabouts of Jon Jonsson remains ongoing.
