There’s no excuse for getting behind the wheel…
According to figures released by An Garda Síochána and the Road Safety Authority (RSA), there was a 34% increase in the number of people arrested for drink driving in December 2016 compared to the same period in 2015.
Ireland may be moving towards a zero-tolerance policy for drink driving, meaning that any alcohol present in a driver’s blood would classify them as over the limit. But there were 26 more deaths on the road last year than in 2015 and 40% of all fatal road accidents have been alcohol related.
The An Garda Síochána have now shared a chilling Tweet from Kildare that shows there’s still some way to go in this country to eradicate the practice of drink driving completely.
