Gardaí launch investigation after baby found alone in Kerry cemetery

Gardaí have launched an investigation after a baby in a pram was found alone in a Kerry graveyard earlier this week.

The discovery was made at Rath cemetery in Tralee on Thursday morning.

According to the Irish Examiner, the baby is a four-month-old girl.

The paper reports that the alarm was raised early on Thursday morning when a passerby heard crying coming from the pram.

Once discovered, Gardaí took the baby to Kerry University Hospital for a medical checkup where she was given the all-clear.

The baby was then returned to its mother.

When asked by JOE about the discovery, a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí in Tralee did attend an incident at Rath cemetery on Thursday morning 12 August, 2021.

“A baby was located in a pram and at this time investigations are ongoing.”
