Gardaí launch investigation after man in his 20s assaulted by group of men in Limerick

A separate incident in Kilkenny saw another man assaulted in the early hours of Friday morning.

Gardaí have launched an investigation after a brutal assault by a number of men in Limerick over the weekend.

A man aged in his 20s was rushed to hospital following the assault which is believed to have been perpetrated by a group of men.

The incident happened at roughly 1am at The Square in Abbeyfeale on Saturday night and the victim was brought to University Hospital Kerry with serious injuries.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a man aged in his 30s was attacked near the new Skate Park in Kilkenny as he walked home on Francis Bridge in the early hours of Friday morning.

The man was assaulted shortly after 4am and did not require medical treatment at the time.

No arrests have been made into either incident and investigations are ongoing.

Gardai appealing for any witnesses to either of the assaults to get in touch.
