Gardaí seize loaded firearm and ammunition from man’s backpack at train station in Limerick

The man was arrested at the scene.

As a result of an intelligence-led operation on the evening of Monday 9 April, Limerick city Gardaí stopped and searched a 25-year-old man in the vicinity of Colbert Station, Limerick, who was found in possession with a loaded firearm. The firearm, along with loose ammunition, was located in his backpack. The man was arrested at the scene and taken to Roxboro Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 30, Offences Against the State, Act, 1939/98 as amended. Gardaí say that investigations are ongoing.
