Irish man goes to extreme and dangerous lengths to escape being captured by Gardaí

Bizarre.

JOE

Roscommon

So stupid and so dangerous.

Some people really just don’t know when their game is up.

Or maybe they do, but they do not want to admit defeat.

According to the Donegal Democrat, a man dived into the river Erne in Ballyshannon in an attempt to avoid being captured by the Gardaí on Tuesday morning.

Gardaí believe that he and another man were involved in a series of thefts and it was reported that one of the men had passed a package to another man before running off down the street.

An Garda Síochána were then alerted about the matter and followed one of the men in question as far as the river and instead of giving up the act, he dived in, holding the package above his head.

He was in the water for about 15 minutes and managed to swim to the far side of the river before being caught by Gardaí and sent to the hospital where he was arrested and taken into custody.

The duo had done some damage around Donegal. They were originally driving a BMW but when that broke down, they proceeded to steal a tractor, a motorbike and large sums of money from respective houses in the surrounding areas.

The full story can be found on the Donegal Democrat website.
