On Tuesday evening, 28 May, Gardaí uncovered a loaded gun in a wooded area of Blanchardstown, along with bullets and a silencer.
As part of ongoing investigations targeting organised criminal activity in north west Dublin, Garda units based in Blanchardstown and Finglas conducted a search of a wooded area off Waterville Road, Dublin 15.
During the course of the search, a loaded firearm and silencer was recovered.
The firearm, a Makarov handgun with a fitted silencer, along with seven bullets, have been sent for ballistic and forensic examination.
Searches in the area are continuing and inquiries are ongoing.
