The vehicles will help maintain high visibility and keep communities safe, Gardaí have said.
Gardaí have unveiled the first nine of 16 new all-terrain frontline patrol vehicles that have been allocated to border counties.
The vehicles have been allocated to the following nine Garda stations:
- Ballyshannon
- Buncrana
- Carrick on Shannon
- Carrickmacross
- Cavan
- Drumad
- Dundalk
- Letterkenny
- Manorhamilton
Assistant Commission of the North-Western Region Barry O’Brien welcomed the allocation of the additional frontline terrain appropriate vehicles.
In a statement, he said the new vehicles would “enhance our operational capacity in maintaining high visibility and keeping people and communities safe.”
