We’ve all been there. Wait, what?
Gardaí in County Cork got more than they bargained for when engaging in a routine enough traffic stop this weekend.
Having stopped a van in Bandon due to a lack of tax disc or certificate of roadworthiness on display, the guards made a strange discovery inside.
Yep, your classic ‘spoon in place of an ignition key’ scenario.
Who among us hasn’t opted for household cutlery in such a pinch?
In the end, the van was seized by the Gardaí and the driver issued with a court date.
“You could cut the tension with a knife,” noted the Garda Traffic account on Twitter, which is a fairly decent if inaccurate pun, as quickly noted by the public.
Bandon Gardai stopped this van at a fork in the road beacuse it had no tax/certificate of roadworthiness and a spoon for a ignition key. Van was seized and a court date for the driver. You could cut the tension with a knife. pic.twitter.com/YhtLU6jxuK

Strong recovery, in fairness.
The Simpsons really did do everything first, huh?
