Think musical chairs meets The Chase.

Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker is set to host a new ITV game show, Sitting on a Fortune.

Lineker confirmed that he would be fronting the cash giveaway show on Thursday, saying that he was “really looking forward” for the programme to hit screens.

The game show will see six players choose where to position themselves in a row of seats to answer questions which will be worth up to £100,000.

Each contestant will sit one behind another, however, only the player at the front of the line will get the chance to answer the questions and continue playing on for the chance of securing the jackpot.

If a player answers a question wrong, they will then have to go to the back of the line.

“Really looking forward to this,” he tweeted. “Think you’ll love it.”

Lineker revealed at the end of last season that he will be leaving his other gig presenting BT Sport’s Champions League football coverage.

According to the BBC’s annual report, Gary Lineker remains the BBC’s top earner even despite agreeing to a pay cut of just under £400,000 last year.
