It comes after Sinn Féin joined TikTok earlier in the week, with a spokesperson for the party stating they wanted to use the platform to engage with young people about the issues that matter most to them, as well as offer some "light relief". Several other Irish political parties have TikTok accounts, as do some Government ministers including Tánaiste Leo Varadkar and Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris. Earlier in the month, a video featuring one of President Michael D. Higgins' dogs went viral on TikTok.
