It comes after Sinn Féin joined the platform earlier in the week.

A video featuring former Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams coining a new take on the Irish republicanism slogan ‘Tiocfaidh ár lá’ has gone viral on TikTok.

The brief clip was posted on Sinn Féin’s official TikTok account with the caption: “Gerry Adams has a word for you….”

In the video, Adams is seen declaring: “TikTok-y ár lá”, before the iconic clip of The US Office plays where Steve Carrell’s boss struggles to stay calm.

The clip was posted on Friday afternoon and has already been watched over 150,000 times.

It comes after Sinn Féin joined TikTok earlier in the week, with a spokesperson for the party stating they wanted to use the platform to engage with young people about the issues that matter most to them, as well as offer some “light relief”.

Several other Irish political parties have TikTok accounts, as do some Government ministers including Tánaiste Leo Varadkar and Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris.

Earlier in the month, a video featuring one of President Michael D. Higgins’ dogs went viral on TikTok.

It saw the pup desperate to get the President’s attention as he was giving a TV interview.
